Jeanne On The Issues

Wisconsin businesses deserve a state government that doesn’t stand in the way of their success.  Our Governor and Lt. Governor understand this and have balanced our state budget in the last biennium. They deserve a State Legislature who will help fight for Wisconsin companies and control the growth of government spending, regulation and red tape. I agree with Governor Walker that we need to govern for the next generation, not the next election. I will help him fight the big government agenda in Madison.
Piggy BankYour hard-earned money belongs to you and you should keep more of it. Cutting taxes and reducing a government bureaucracy will be my major focus so we can grow our economy and put more people back to work. Government needs to let the private sector lead the way.
We simply cannot continue to spend money we don’t have and pass the burden of debt on our children and grandchildren. I will bring my kitchen table common sense to Madison and work to change the culture of out-of-control spending and help Governor Walker continue his goal of putting our state on the path to fiscal responsibility. We need to continue Governor Walker’s Lean government initiatives and reform the way Madison spends taxpayer money.
The future of health care concerns me as a mother of three children. I want to be a voice for families in Waukesha County and be part of the solution.Seniors also have unique health care needs. I have assisted my Mother and Father during the end of their lives with their increasing health care needs as they become frail, elderly and sick. I have a record of results as a strong advocate for them in meeting their health care needs. I understand the challenges our seniors face as they age. Meeting the health care needs of our seniors in Wisconsin will be a priority for me in Madison.
I believe our children’s needs for a high quality education are best served at the local level. I believe parents, teachers and local administration are in the best position to work together for best practices in raising academic achievement. This will position our children to successfully compete in a competitive, global economy. I support Governor Walker’s efforts to increase flexibility, encourage innovation, and improve our schools and student outcomes.
Many companies in Wisconsin are looking to hire, but cannot find enough skilled workers to fill vacancies. I have been working for Governor Walker’s Administration to help develop solutions to address this skills gap. I know that developing a talent pool of people with the right skills is the cornerstone of moving our state forward. As manufacturing rebounds from this deep recession, communities that develop a globally competitive workforce will be the economic winners.Part of the solutions lies in our education system. We need to better align our K-12 program with our technical schools and universities so our kids have the education and training for the jobs of the future.
There are nearly 400,000 veterans living in our great state of Wisconsin. I am the daughter of a World War II Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. I know first hand that our veterans have suffered both visible and invisible wounds of war. I grew up understanding the sacrifice veterans have made and continue to make to preserve our freedom. I know that the heroes who bravely serve in our Armed Forces are patriotic men and women. I have participated in Veterans Listening Sessions with Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch during 2012, The Year of the Veteran. We owe our veterans more than a debt of gratitude for their legacy of service. We must renew our commitment to help them transition to civilian life by helping them gain employment and access the support they need for housing and medical care. I will work with Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary John Scocos and the rest of Governor Walker’s Administration to improve the manner in which benefits are administered to our military heroes and to connect veterans and their families with employment opportunities. I will support DVA programs to provide outreach and support to meet the needs of veterans and military spouses in the 21st century.
